In 1955 the theatre was remolded into a cinemascope house and remained that, until it closed its doors and was slated for demolition in Spring of 1980. In 1981 it was reopened by a Not For Profit organization that helped have it placed on the Historic Registry in 1983. That group was unable to meet expenses & closed the theatre in December 1985.
